“I’d like to offer insight into my creative process and provide an open space for experimenting, trying things out and improvising.”

Dawid Liftinger, artist-in-residence 2023/2024 & 2024/2025 school year
Dawid Liftinger was born in 1986 in Gmunden, Austria and now lives and works in Cologne. As a graduate of the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne and the University of Arts in Linz, he focuses on the interaction between technology, sensory perception and synaesthesia. Using (self-built) electronics, he questions traditional concepts of light and sound, experiments with visual and acoustic forms, and in the process blurs the boundaries between 2D and 3D space. His work prompts new experiences and invites the audience to explore subjective and cognitive perception. In 2012 he co-founded the sound art project radio433, and in 2016 spent a year studying Mandarin at the Chinese Culture University in Taipei/Taiwan. Since 2020 he has been part of the SPECIES dance company. Liftinger’s works have been exhibited internationally, including in the Space O’NewWall in Seoul, South Korea, in RESPONSIVE in Halifax, Canada and at the TADAEX Festival in Tehran, Iran.
