“For us it’s primarily about bringing students closer to an idea of ‘what if’ and having an exciting and stimulating time together. In the process we’ll experience a lot – from dreaming via planning, educating, building and kitting out, all the way to lifting off, travelling, researching, collecting, documenting – and naturally also celebrating!”

Paloma Sanchez-Palencia (*1987) and Lena Skrabs (*1990) have worked together since 2016 as the artistic duo “great artists doing okay” or g.a.d.o. for short. Their artistic practice can be described in various ways: it is hybrid, performative, site-specific and mostly leads to the production of experiences more than of art objects. g.a.d.o. are interested in the solemn possibilities of the ordinary, often with a focus on the tension between work, play and idleness. In their work they combine stories, design, installations, small and large gestures, celebrations and often a form of disappointment too. In doing so they seek creative ways to make artistic research accessible, inspiring their audience to share and question their own realities.
Lena and Paloma met on the Public Art and New Artistic Strategies masters programme at Bauhaus University in Weimar. They share a passion for associations, gift paper and sandwiches.
